Tavira Garden

The garden of this suburban villa in Tavira was in need of renovation. The owners wanted a solution that would be cost-effective, low maintenance and low or no irrigation, yet providing visual interest and usable space for rental clients through the hottest months of the year. Around the pool, a planting of cacti and succulents was devised to provide colour and structure year round. The lower garden contained many fruit trees in various states of health. The best were retained, pruned and transplanted, and the soft planting of fragrant herbs and perennials at their feet skirts a gravel area which can be used for tables and chairs or to play petanque. The garden receives an occasional thorough watering by by hose.
